Lisa EATON
Lisa Eaton lives in the City of Angels, CA and has been a professional dancer and choreographer for 25 years. She has choreographed tours and videos for Marina & the Diamonds, Lana Del Rey, Jane’s Addiction, Ciara, Rhye, Miley Cyrus, Maroon 5, Queens of the Stone Age, and John Mayer to name a few. She has also choreographed commercials for Pepsi, Target, Toyota, Chase Bank, McDonalds, Snickers, Evian, and the list goes on...
Lisa created BARRED while choreographing a show with Circus-like elements. She was inspired to create an apparatus that transforms into variable and limitless combinations. Once her dancers began to move on the BARRED sets, she saw unique opportunity in the space between stage and ceiling. Lisa worked alongside expert prop designers executing her vision.
The story behind BARRED
Lisa Eaton created BARRED with 2 sets, as an experiment. As the movement has grown, BARRED has exploded into the fabric of the American Dance World. BARRED is featured in “Certified Black Genius” directed by Academy Award winner, John Ridley, in “Rhye” Music Videos, has installed live work in “Congress, Legalize Dance” & “Carnival Dance Show”, featured in “Disco Dining Club’s” New Year’s Eve at the Paramount, and featured at NYE Soho House with the “Last Follies Closet.”

What People are saying
“Lisa Eaton transcends convention with BARRED. Rooted in her mastery of multiple performative worlds, her breaking work and architectural genius moves the needle by suspending us, her performers, and our beliefs surrounding genre and physical possibility. A subversive decategorization of the traditions of burlesque and concert dance, Eaton firmly anchors BARRED in the revolution of Los Angelonian performance decree.”

"Lisa Eaton's mastery of her craft is a true testament to her immeasurable passion, enviable work ethic, and overwhelming compassion on and off-stage. I first hired Lisa to choreograph for my company - Disco Dining Club - on NYE at The Standard Hotel. The event was only a few hours long. Wish it could have lasted a lifetime! There is a timelessness to Lisa's artistry that keeps me coming back for more. All I can is that the world needs more BARRED performances!"
Courtney Nichols, founder of Disco Dining Club
“When I was looking for a set piece for Cherry Boom Boom that was unique yet portable, something durable and strong that would allow us to create bold choreography on, I found BARRED. It’s the perfect apparatus! Not only has it been a great conditioning tool for dancers - it’s offered an inspiring and innovative way to create spectacular movement and art.”
Lindsley Allen - Creator + Director of Cherry Boom Boom
“Just Spectacular! Still get chills watching it again & again.”

“Congratulations on BARRED, your work is beautiful Lisa!”

“Watching the barres in action during a live performance is nothing short of a “jaw on the floor” moment. The dancers navigate through the bars as if it was a human dance partner. The barres catch them, counterbalance with them, support them in ways that have you as an audience member asking “how?” Watching the dancers exhibit sheer strength while tending to the delicate voice of Billie Eilish or Rhye is the duality that exists in our everyday lives. Barred is not just a performance, it is an experience.”
